Bryan Lowiec

Owner/Welding Engineer

Bryan founded Advanced Welding Solutions after his many observations of unacceptable welding practices due to an overall lack of weld process knowledge. Given the criticality of welding to the public, I felt it was my duty to address many of the issues I had observed head-on with goals to improve the world and make it a safer and better place to live for all. With a strong focus on safety and quality, my company provides a wide range of welding solutions that cater to the unique needs of clients from various industries.

In 2021, I founded Advanced Welding Solutions, offering cutting-edge welding solutions. In 2023, I achieved AWS CWI/QC1 certifications, validating my expertise in welding inspection and quality control. These certifications enhance our capabilities, ensuring high-quality results for our clients. We remain dedicated to delivering innovative welding solutions and making a positive impact in the welding industry.

Bryan's Background

Since 2007, I’ve had a passion for welding and joining, which led me to pursue a B.S. in welding engineering with a minor in nuclear engineering at The Ohio State University. Graduating in 2012, I then joined NRG Energy in Houston, Texas, where I served as a welding engineer until January 2020. NRG Energy is a global electric utility company that owns and operates power-generation facilities. As a welding engineer, I ensured company-wide compliance with industry codes and standards such as ASME and AWS, by managing weld documents (PQR, WPS, welder qualification), resolving weldability issues, and conducting quality and welding assessments/audits. For each project, I created custom weld repair plans that included technical details like WPS selection, heat treatment, NDT hold-point requirements, and acceptance criteria. I was also responsible for various field welding-engineer roles that involved frequent communication and collaboration with contractors and vendors. These roles included overseeing all aspects of the project from start to finish and generating detailed reports upon completion.

During my time at NRG, I gained experience in turbomachinery repair while working at an OSHA VPP Star-Certified and ISO 9001:2015 repair and service facility. As part of my role, I oversaw the entire process of each job as it progressed through the facility. This included writing detailed work scopes, making engineering decisions and drawings, communicating directly with customers, purchasing raw materials and consumables, visiting vendor facilities, generating quality control documents and data sheets, and creating final reports and presentations. Our facility offered a range of services to customers in the energy industry, including coatings, combustion turbine rotor repair, material analysis, non-destructive examination, pump repair, rotor life analysis, steam turbine repair, repair of stationary components of steam turbines, turbine casing repair, welding, light fabrication, wind turbine main shaft repair, and valve repair.

After my time at NRG, I joined Alloy Precision Technologies (formerly Alloy Bellows & Precision Welding) in Cleveland, Ohio in February 2020 as a welding and manufacturing engineer. As an AS9100-certified company, Alloy Precision Technologies specializes in manufacturing thin-walled bellows and tubing (ranging from 0.005″ to 0.020″), welded/brazed bellows assemblies, and machined tight-tolerance precision components for a range of industries, including aerospace, oil and gas, power generation, medical, and defense. My responsibilities at Alloy included maintaining all welding and brazing documents, designing and implementing weld tooling, and developing weld schedules for new product lines. Additionally, I worked on improving all aspects of the manufacturing process to enhance quality, reduce scrap, and increase shop-floor efficiency.

Additionally, I received my AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and QC1 certifications in 2023.
